Another marketing Idea

Ok, I just had a great idea for a line of t-shirts and other clothing. How about this for a slogan; “Satan makes me horny”?

With great ideas like this could someone explain to me just how it is that I am not rich?

Sam Phillips

I have a hard time explaining why a musical performance I saw over a year sticks with me so much that I still think of it frequently.

Looking for some lyrics for a Sam Phillips wiki I stumbled across and felt compelled to help out with I came across a couple of performance reviews that express things a little better than I have been able to so far.

“Sam Phillips delivered an 11-song, 45-minute set that was an example of nothing less than near-minimalist magnificence. Standing stock-still at center stage, backed by a three-piece band, Phillips sang about life’s tough rather than tender places, augmenting the music with comments about the true definition of “torch” songs and somehow turning “Hope will kill you” into a laugh line.” –Jeff Guinn, Star-Telegram newspaper

“…an excellent opening set from Sam Phillips’ four-piece band, featuring a macabre mix of sultry cabaret and bizarre carnival waltz with some offbeat humor thrown in to boot. …

Just to make things even weirder, I feel I should mention that Phillips played opposite Bruce Willis as Jeremy Irons’ steel-faced lover in 1995’s “Die Hard With a Vengeance.” The fact that she exuded the stage personality of a knock-kneed, oddball outcast forced to get up and sing in front of all these strangers (yet somehow retaining a quirky sexiness) sent my brain on so many diverging tangents it felt like it was about to explode.” — Jeffrey Overstreet

Those are some of the aspects that made the performance, but the word that really seems to fit most is “haunting”. She gave a haunting performance, I am haunted by it still.

The Perfect Television Show

Ok, I will admit at the outset that I’ve been watching more television then I usually do. But the other night as I was watching the pornographic camera work on one of those forensic police shows the thought occurred to me that the perfect show would be “Bikini Mortician”. OK, actually “Bikini Forensic Detective” (the logo could be ‘BFD’), but I don’t know if “forensic detective” has quite the same ring. I would suggest “Bikini CSI” since they have the nicest name already, but I would hate to have to buy into an existing franchise and it’s really a completely seperate idea. Really it is. Think of it, it would be the perfect combination. Like Peanut Butter and chocolate. I am imagining a scene where the Bikini Detectives have to go out heavily armed to take down a suspect and the pop music blaring as we see the montage of government SUVs racing to the scene, girls jumping out of vehicles in skimpy bikinis, perps fleeing and guns blazing with the themesong blaring in the background - I am thinking it could be that Cramps song “Bikini Girls and Machine Guns”. Man I could make a lot of money if I were in Hollywood, I know this would be a hit.

Did I mention I’ve been watching a lot of tv lately?
