I was happy…

walking across the street with 20+ preschool kids and their handlers listening to their loud “thank you” to the policeman who stopped traffic for them.

No, I am not YOU are!

With all the press about the Texas republican financed “Swift Boats for Truth” ads calling Kerry a liar and saying he did not serve honorably in Vietnam, and the latest officially Bush approved Kerry attack ads pointing out Kerry’s poor attendence at Senate committee meetings, I realized that Bush’s people are trying to co-opt the very issues that Bush is weakest on. Bush and his supported are basically accusing Kerry of all of Bush’s own weaknesses.

Bush’s supporters are questioning the service of a decorated Vietnam Veteran because Bush didn’t serve in active duty during Vietnam and there is some question as to whether he completed his stateside service in the National Guard.

Bush is raising the issue of Kerry’s attendance because he been on vacation more than any other president in the history of our country. Before 9/11 when warnings were coming in from intelligence sources about potential terrorist actions Bush was on vacation in Texas the ENTIRE month of August. Before 9/11 in the less than one year bush was in office he had taken 54 days off at his ranch, 38 days at Camp David, and four days at his family home in Maine for a total of 96 days. He spent 40% of his Presidency in his first 10 months outside of Washington. Guess its a good thing he didn’t need to meet with anyone in Washington about anything important during those 10 months.

Now I am just waiting for the ads from Bush supporters that portray Kerry as a bumbling simpleton who can’t think on his feet. Those will be priceless.

Subterfugal Marketing

Man I really hate companies that pretend to give things away for free and then hit you with their money-making hook after you have signed up for something. Since I haven’t been paying attention to computer music stuff the past few years I signed up for a free “Digital Music made easy” class at download.com, only to find once I had registered (free) for the class(free) that a $25 book is “required” for the class. I am hoping that is just an attempt to sell related goods, but either way it is underhanded.
