The Four Agreements (don Miguel Ruiz)

A set of 4 deceptively simple sounding “agreements” that can radically change one’s life. At least that is the theory. I am unsure of how I will be able to keep to them, and I am suspicious of almost all new publications which claim to be retellings of ancient wisdoms but already after reading just a couple of chapters I feel my attitude changing, and as much as it is possible to tell from printed words - this guy is for real - he lays out the hell people place themselves in, describes how to get out and then IN THE BOOK makes a gesture to help anyone who reads the book get out of their own hell. When I read that part I started smiling as broadly as I have ever smiled while reading a book. It was just *goodness* in the purest sense, in the belief-set of the author the gesture was as powerful an action as anyone can take toward another person in this world and here the author is making this action on behalf of anyone who is reading the book. I still smile thinking about it.
