On the topic of the 9/11 US terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center a couple of leading evangelical preachers think the attacks are a manifestation of God’s anger at the USA and blame non-Christians IN the US for the attacks.  How people can worship a god they believe allows terrorists to attack innocent civilians and kill thousands of innocent people because he is angry with _other_ people has always been beyond my ability to understand.  Here’s a transcript of part of a conversation between Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson that took place on September 13th, 2001.

JERRY FALWELL: …I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way - all of them who have tried to secularize America - I point the finger in their face and say “you helped this happen.”

PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I totally concur, and the problem is we have adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our government. And so we’re responsible as a free society for what the top people do. And, the top people, of course, is the court system.

The white hats in the computer industry may have a new tool to slow down hackers with a new program called “LaBrea” (as in tarpits) that pretends to be a computer and grabs ahold of incoming worms and other malicious probes and doesn’t let go. At the very least it’s a pain in the butt for hackers who have to reboot or shut down their internet connection and restart whenever they hit a LaBrea “computer”.

It appears that in it’s effort to step up the “War on Drugs” we have been giving the Taliban large sums of money (43 million dollars in May of 2001). The money was called food aid or humanitarian aid, but some claim tht at least 10 million dollars of this amount (earmarked for miscellaneous government programs) was really payment for the Taliban’s promise to crack down on opium production. And in related news, on May 31st (the same month) CBS news reported that there was evidence that “Afghanistan’s heroin producing poppy fields are funding bin Laden�s organization, Al-Qaeda, as well as the Taliban”.

I wonder if the reason the world trade center buildings were chosen as a target for terrorist attacks had anything to do with the dual phallic symbolism of the buildings. Could the terrorists have been suffering from united states penis envy? I would think that two phallic images of that size could upset many people.
